and a happy new year!
Jesse and I had a mutual day off today, and we both decided to do NOTHING! I don't remember the last time that happened, but it has definitely been months. What a joy:) It has been nice to be back here, although I'm feeling antsy about the move at this point. We set the date of departure for January 12th, so hopefully we'll have enough time to settle in before Jess starts work on the 17th. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do to make money for the home-front once we get there, so if anyone has any brilliant ideas, let me know. It seems likely that I will be carrying over my waitressing prowess to the great state of Wisconsin.
In other news, I spent my Christmas in San Diego with Mom's side of the family, and we all had an incredible time. The baby was a big fan of the star trek museum, as well as the box seats at the poinsettia bowl (he was especially thrilled with the all-beef hot dogs with
sauerkraut!). He is also grateful to Santa (and Auntie Kate) for maternity clothes which prevent mom from squeezing into her pre-pregnancy jeans here in month 6. Belly pics to return next week, i think.
In lieu of belly photos this week, I thought I'd post a couple pics of Jesse and me from our summer trip to visit my family, for those who may not know what our faces look like yet!

Go Jesse! Go Bears!
Hello all!
Courtney came to town and treated me to a trip to Babies-R-Us this weekend. She is a die-hard Cheesehead, but she bought us this Bears onesie anyway:)
Also, WE HAVE MORE BIG NEWS.....
No, not twins (thank heavens!)
Jesse got the transfer to Madison!!!! We are moving in early January, and he will start work at the West Towne Mall on January 17th. I'm so proud and excited I hardly know what to do with myself.
Many loves!

It's ALIIIIIVEEEE
The little guy in my belly is really starting to feel like a reality to us now!
Aside from a few little flutters in past weeks, this week marks the beginning of 2.0's ability to make himself known. I have felt him bouncing around since Thanksgiving morning, but today Jesse was able to feel the kicking for the first time. In addition, I felt my first pang of concern today that I have about four months left of someone bludgeoning me from the inside. Oh well, here's hoping he gets it all out of his system now! (I can dream, can't I?) The other first of the week was that two adults that I didn't know asked me when I was due... so I guess I'm really starting to show. Although, both women admitted to a moment of terror between question and answer where it occured to them that I might not be "due" for anything in particular. Jess says I should have toyed with them. Maybe next time:)
My friend Courtney is coming to visit from Denver tonight, and I'm looking forward to a few days of being girly and ridiculous. (Poor Jesse!) Other than that, not much to report. We should have a firm answer about Madison from Apple within the next few days, and I'll be sure to update when we do. Take care, everyone, and remember to be extra nice to service folks as we approach the holiday.
We love you!!!

IT'S A.......
So, today Jesse and I went to the doctor for our 20-wk ultrasound appointment, and were dismayed by the news that we were supposed to have a separate appointment for the ultrasound itself.... but since even doctors know better than to argue with a pregnant woman, we had an ultrasound anyway:) Unfortunately, the doctor was uncertain of the gender and told us he had an "inkling" it was a girl.... this gave me an "inkling" that he was a quack, and so I spent the rest of my morning trying not to sob (unsuccessfully).
Luckily, I was able to get in to see the ultrasound technician this afternoon at 3, and she was significantly more competent:)
Not only did she FIND our little man's penis, she gave me a picture with an arrow pointing to it and wrote "IT'S A BOY!" across the bottom (See left). She also let me know that the baby is perfect in every way (as I suspected) and that he is active, healthy, and exactly halfway to the end of incubation:)
Here, we see 2.0 rubbing his perfect face with his perfect hand... okay, so he kind of looks like a globule... let me have my moment!
Much love,

holy registry, batman!
Hello all!
Firstly, I'm pleased to announce that I left my $150 in a pants pocket which I found in the dryer yesterday. (Hurrah for the pregnant brain... I had forgotten I was doing laundry in the first place...) Secondly, Jesse and I have started our baby registry and are researching all kinds of neat baby stuff. I am starting to feel like a hippie-mom, because we have decided to try a cloth diaper service (http://www.mothernaturesdiapers.com/) and I watched "The Business of Being Born" tonight, which has me looking into natural childbirth, midwives, birthing centers, and the like. So, to boost my sense of modern consumerism, I found a wildly expensive stroller:)

*shiver*
This has not been my very best week ever. The heater is broken in Jesse's apartment, so I've been huddled up in his room next to the space heater a lot. Also, $150 disappeared from my wallet (presumably stolen, possibly misplaced in the haze of pregnancy), so I've been pretty moody the last few days. Looking on the brighter side, Jess has been incredibly sweet and helpful, catering to my needs before I realize they are needs on many occasions. AND... I bought my first maternity pants, and may never go back to regular pants ever again. They might have a hard time prying these things off of my fabulously comfortable body at the hospital in April:) Other than that, I'm doing my best to take good care of myself as I prepare to move to Madison in January, get ready for the holidays, and keep pace with subbing in Winnetka, accompanying my friend Mary's fourth grade choir, teaching music downtown on Mondays, and waitressing as much as my body will let me. So, you know, the usual. :)

look! it's a belly!
Hello all!
I'm feeling pretty good about bringing a baby into the world in the year Obama takes office! :)
Here is my belly this morning, at the end of week 16. Still no word on the gender. Looks like we'll have to wait until December 1 to find out about that. I got to spend some time with my parents this week in Ironwood, which was wonderful and relaxing. Mom even treated me to a pedicure... the baby loved it:) Yesterday Jesse and I spent some time in Madison looking at housing and checking out the Apple store he might be transferring to. We're hoping to get into a two-bedroom here (www.arborhills.com) in mid-January. Other than that, we're just trying to navigate all of the decisions and changes as gracefully as we can. Pretty exciting stuff!
Love,
Leanne

Bornselhoft 2.0
Hello all!
So here I am in week 15, waiting not-so-patiently to attach a gender to my apple-sized offspring. Hopefully, they'll be able to tell at the appointment on Friday, but it might be another month yet. Jesse has affectionately dubbed the baby "2.0" as in software versions... I'm anxious to identify it somewhat more humanely. Right now, the main preparation is looking into housing possibilities. Madison seems to be a promising city for us in terms of career opportunities, proximity to the Wesselhoft clan, and cost of living.
I'll try to start posting weekly updates with pictures/ultrasounds/etc. but for now, I'm off to start packing up my apartment.
Lots of Love,
Leanne
